Ways to solve a cube
People do not use the computer solution you get from a scan. They use a method: a fixed set of stages and algorithms that work on every scramble. Start with beginner’s method. The others are what you grow into if you want to go faster.
Beginner’s method

Solve one layer, then the middle, then the last. A handful of short algorithms. This is how almost everyone learns.

Fridrich
The usual next step. Same layer idea, but the first two layers are built together, and the last layer is two looks instead of four.

Roux
Block building
Build a 1×2×3 block, then another, then last-layer corners, then the remaining edges. Fewer algorithms, more intuition.

CFOP in four letters
Cross — same white cross as the beginner method, usually on the bottom so you can see the sides.
F2L — first two layers. Each white corner is paired with its edge and inserted together, instead of corners then edges.
OLL — orient last layer, so the top is all yellow. Beginners use a few looks; full CFOP has 57 cases.
PLL — permute last layer, so the yellow pieces move into the right seats. Full CFOP has 21 cases. A gentler next step is 4-look last layer: two looks to orient, two to permute — about 16 algorithms, not 78.
Roux, briefly
You build a 1×2×3 block on the left, then another on the right, then solve the four remaining corners (CMLL), then the last six edges with M-slice moves. There is no cross and no last-layer "plus." It suits people who prefer seeing blocks over memorizing many cases.
What the solver on this site does
It runs Kociemba’s two-phase search and returns a short sequence — often around 20 moves — with no human stages. Follow it to solve that scramble. It will not teach you the next one. Use the beginner method for that, or scan a cube when you just want it done.
